One of the more obscure hereditary societies is the Baronial Order of Magna Charta and the Military Order of the Crusades. You can read more about them at their website. To become a member of this historical society, you don’t need to prove ancestry a thousand years back to your crusader ancestor. They keep a list of “Gateway Ancestors” who are believed to be descended from a crusader. One of those listed as a Gateway Ancestor is Thomas Bradbury. Thomas has been mentioned on this blog before as one of the original settlers of Salisbury Massachusetts and also the husband to convicted witch Mary Bradbury.
We may have connections to other Gateway Ancestors, but their list is long, and I only got through the Bs.
